We lost Emma to what we suspect was Adenocarcinoma. Emma had struggled with pancreatitis following her litters, which led to some damage of her stomach and intestines. This kind of chronic struggle can open the door for a cancer like this to develop in the damaged areas.
Emma was our keeper from Pinky, a sassy girl who loved working in the field and the obedience/rally ring. She had 9 kids, a litter of 8 who got her no-nonsense parenting, and a singleton little boy who could do no wrong.
We miss this girl so much, and our houses feel empty without her

Emma is retired from breeding, but we like to be transparent. Emma had a severe injury to her left side as a puppy. This took years of rehab, but it can clearly be seen on x-ray and affected her ability to get OFA clearances. Her right hip and elbow (non injured side), was rated normal/good.
All of this documentation was provided to puppy owners before they committed to a puppy so they could make an informed decision about what they are comfortable with. The arthritis from the injury does affect her day to day, and for her comfort she has been retired from breeding. She will occasionally come out and play in the rally ring or run a hunt test, but she is retired from competition as well.
